What is Mindfulness? How can you be Mindful? And Most Importantly, Why be Mindful?

Before knowing ‘What is Mindfulness?’ and ‘How can you be Mindful?’, we need to know why we want to be Mindful. Once we are clear with ‘why’ then ‘what’ and ‘how’ will be derived from that, this is not only for Mindfulness, this applies to any work we are doing. I do yoga stretches daily as a part of my morning routine. Usually, I do the Surya Namaskar 12 times. While counting, 3, 4, and the next time I doubt whether it is the 5th time or the 4th time! Again, while doing the Shishu Balasana, I count …., 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, and 43 mechanically whereas I plan to do 40 times! Do such things happen to you also? Why does this happen? Thinking of something else while doing work? Many times we dwell in our past experiences, I should have done like this or I should not have told him why this happened like that, etc. Other times we are thinking deeply about the future , what will happen in that issue or whether this will go as expected or if something happens what will I do, most ...

Why Don’t We Remove ‘Should’ and ‘Shouldn’t’ from our Vocabulary and Be Kind to Ourselves and Others Too?

If someone tells me ‘You should not do this’, the immediate thought that arises in me is why I should not do it? What if I do that?  In the same way if someone says ‘you should do’ then again my mind objects to me why should I? What about you? Have you felt the same way? If your mother or someone says you should go to bed now, what would be your response? Why should I now? Am I right? On the other hand, if she says, ‘You are looking tired, it’s better you go to bed now’, how will you feel? Which one will make you do that? The first approach is ‘should do’ and the other approach is, giving the same thing as a proposal, doing this will have such consequences and leaving me to decide. Which approach will make me feel comfortable and confident,  to make my own decision, right? Why, only others telling me? Even when I tell myself, as a motivation I should do yoga regularly, that has an unsaid meaning that I am not doing it and I wish to do that. In the long-term, when we t...

Image
Before going into the ‘How to do?’ of Mind Mapping, let me tell you which type of papers you can make use of and also the other requirements. It is suggested to use a little bigger size of paper, A4 or A3 size and that too in the landscape orientation. Don't use it in portrait size. Avoid checked or ruled papers or small sheets. We can make use of different colors for making this mind map. So, you might need different colours of sketch pens as per your taste! Why should we use different colors? Yes, to separate the ideas!. Now, as we are ready with all the requirements, the next question arises! How do we have to make a mind map for a particular concept? First, you read this write-up. This is a description of the season ‘Spring’: Spring is one of the four seasons. During the beautiful season of spring, there will be warm sun , dormant plants start to grow again , and the trees begin to pop with buds . A variety of flowers bloom in the spring season and butterflies and bees fly...

Want to be Well Prepared for Anything That You Are Doing? Do You Find Difficulty in Recalling and Remembering? Hope to Make Zero Mistakes? Mind Mapping Might Come in Handy!

Image
Usually, I want to be well prepared for anything that I am doing and do not accept any mistakes, even a simple comma or alignment in my work. Sometimes, my friends used to make fun of it. My personal assistant at college also said once “Just leave it, madam, no one will even notice this”! Jokes apart, see below, the points to be discussed in a faculty meeting that I have prepared in two different ways. Tell me which one looks attractive, is easy to remember and you like. Or             The second one is the visual representation prepared for the concept of the meeting agenda. Do you accept that this is a better way of representing the agenda? Will it be easy for me to discuss the agenda and the faculty also will get a clear picture of what is going on in the meeting? Even if anyone missed a point discussed, they could get it from the picture, right? (There is always a chance for us to fly somewhere during the meeting/class and land after a few minut...
