All human beings are similar - Differentiating people is Disrespect!

Today let me introduce Mr. Arunachalam, my husband, shortly I call him Aruni.   On Sundays, Aruni and I like to take our morning walk at the Marina beach or at the lake view park near our house where there is a walking track around the lake.  Last Sunday we were walking along the lakeside walking track. I saw a snail crossing the walking path so slowly that it did not seem to be moving. As I noticed a few baby snails crushed by the people walking there, I said to Aruni that if this snail is going this slow then people will crush it as they might not notice it. Immediately, he made a remark that just because it’s a snail people are walking on them. At the same time if it’s a snake will they do like this, won’t they run away.  This reminded me of how we differentiate people based on gender, their power and sect etc.  How do we respond to a person neatly dressed up and speaks good english versus a person with dirty clothes and speaks the local language, that too in...

Three in one walking (if you are mindful you can make even four) - Design your own walking style 😊

Let me share my experience in making multiple benefits out of walking ! I used to combine twisting my hip while walking which helps in reducing the fat at the back πŸ‘πŸ». Keep the hands at chest level, gently twist your hip left to right and right to left and keep walking. You need not jog, just keep walking and automatically you will gain good speed! And anyway we have to keep our fingers in some position right, why not in the form of a mudra? I chose the Adhi mudra, bringing the thumb to touch the bottom of the ring finger and closing the fingers. ( Adhi mudra may assist in the improvement of the health of the human body and may help in the management of stress levels) You can even make the fourth benefit, that is if you are following any kind of meditation which is observing your breathing or observing the sensation in your body you can do that while walking πŸ‘πŸ» Walking + twisting + Mudra + meditation 😊 What do you think, come on, design your walking style as per your need a...

Image
Recently, we have started the Digital Detox Club in our institution. When there was the proposal for starting this club, I wondered why this club and what would be the response of the students. So, I started browsing on this and found an article which explained each of the following findings from various research studies in detail: Technology make you feel stressful Digital devices can disrupt sleep Heavy usage of device can lead to mental health issues Constantly connected to devices  affects work/life balance Social comparison makes it hard to be content Digital connectivity can make you feel like you’re missing out It is really alarming and it seems to be true also!  Also, to my surprise, there are more students enrolled in the club and it clearly shows our youngsters are realising that they are caught up with the screen and want to come out of the digital addiction.  During the inauguration the guest interacted with the students on the steps they can take ...
